Expectations and realities around motherhood can clash and co-exist.
I always wanted to be a mom, but in 2018, when I was first pregnant, I found the societal narrative around motherhood left little room for nuance or the ups and downs of the journey. My pregnancies challenged me. Postpartum, sleep deprivation stole my days. I wondered how I’d ever go back to work. I loved being a mother, but I felt alone and misinformed. The truth is, I was in good company—I just wasn’t properly prepared. I started Dear Sunday so that you can be.
